About the mission

Helping today’s children grow into tomorrow’s kind, honest and responsible citizens.

Why stories?

Children have always learned right from wrong through stories. A good story lets a child feel what a character feels and see what happens after a choice — without being told off or lectured. We pair every story with a question to think about and one small thing to try in real life.

The values we teach — honesty, kindness, courage, fairness, respect and others — are shared by people everywhere. Stories come from many countries so children see that good character belongs to every culture. We do not promote any religion or political view.

Our privacy promise

  • Lessons need a free account. Our sign-in service (Microsoft Entra) keeps your name and email so you can sign in. We use them only to run your account, and we never sell them.
  • You sign in on a secure Microsoft page. We never see your password.
  • A parent, guardian or teacher agrees to our children’s privacy notice before a child starts learning, and can withdraw that consent at any time. We keep a record of the consent as proof.
  • No adverts, and no tracking or analytics tools of any kind.
  • This site sets no cookies. Microsoft’s sign-in page uses its own cookies only while you sign in.
  • The “finished” ticks and your reading settings are saved only in this browser, on this device. We never see them.
  • “Read it to me” uses the speech built into your device. We do not record or receive any audio.
  • Reflection answers are not saved anywhere.

No reading progress is saved on this device.

Where the stories come from

Every story is our own short retelling of a traditional tale that is free for everyone to tell. Each one names the country or community it comes from. Before a story is marked as reviewed, someone from that culture checks that the retelling is accurate and respectful. Some stories are still waiting for that review, and we say so on the story page.

Accessibility

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. You can make text bigger, switch to easier-to-read letters or high-contrast colours with “Reading settings” at the top of every page, and have any story read aloud. The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit. If something is hard to use, please tell us at [email protected].
